Scholarship opportunities available through Morgan County Rural Electric Association

Morgan County Rural Electric Association is once again partnering with Tri-State Generation & Transmission and Basin Electric Power Cooperative in sponsoring six scholarships for youth in our service areas. One (1) fifteen-hundred dollar and two (2) one-thousand dollar scholarships will be provided by Morgan County REA, with Tri-State offering two (2) five hundred dollar scholarships and Basin Electric Power sponsoring one (1) one-thousand dollar scholarship.  All completed application materials must be postmarked or delivered by February 1st, 2008.  Only one set of application materials is necessary to apply for scholarships from all three cooperatives.

In addition to filling out the application form, students interested in applying for the scholarships must:

  • Write a summary (not to exceed two pages) detailing school and community activities, as well as any work experience

  • Compose a student statement (not to exceed one page) outlining the student's expected field of study and any career plans

  • Include SAT and/or ACT scores, as well as a high school transcript with the student's grade point average

  • Enclose one (1) letter of recommendation

  • One picture of yourself for publication purposes should you be awarded a scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant or their family must receive electric service from Morgan County REA, must be starting at the Freshman level at a vocational school or college in the fall of this year, and plans to maintain a full-time schedule in any post-secondary accredited institution which offers at least a one-year degree program.

Completed application materials may be delivered to the MCREA office, 20169 Highway 34, Fort Morgan, or mailed to:

Scholarship Committee
Morgan County REA
P.O. Box 738
Fort Morgan, CO  80701

Again, only one set of application materials is necessary for all six scholarships.  Applications can be picked up at the Morgan County REA office or by clicking here.  All applicants will be notified after selections are made.
