Green for Going Green

‘Green for Going Green’.  That’s the theme of an exciting new financing program for home-based energy efficiency measures and renewable energy projects.  Morgan County Rural Electric Association is partnering with Fort Morgan State Bank in offering the financing package to MCREA members.  “We’re excited to be a part of it,” said Fort Morgan State Bank President John Sneed.  “We’ve wanted to offer this kind of program, and certainly teaming up with Morgan County REA to put together the initial program is a great thing.”

The ‘Green for Going Green’ package can be used by MCREA members to finance many energy efficiency and/or renewable energy products for their home.  “It could include everything from wind generators and solar panels to energy efficient heating products and even new windows or insulation for your home,” Sneed explained.  He went on to say that the key component in the program is that an energy audit and/or economic improvement analysis must be performed by Morgan County REA.  “The analysis or audit will assess what the energy savings is expected to be in the near term, as a result of whatever measure you choose to explore.”

The package offered by Fort Morgan State Bank can be used to finance up to 100% of the cost of home-based energy efficiency or renewable energy projects for MCREA members, including installation.  The borrower will have a choice of five or ten year payback periods with extremely attractive rates.  Borrowers must also be credit qualified by Fort Morgan State Bank, be a home owner and live in Morgan County REA’s service territory.  There is a limited amount of funding available, so loans will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

In order to qualify for the “Green for Going Green” financing package, borrowers must fill out a credit application, along with providing the purchase price of the equipment, the amount of the loan requested, a description of the equipment and/or project with invoices when necessary, and the MCREA energy audit or economic improvement estimate.

If you’ve been considering making your home more energy efficient or investing in a renewable energy source, here’s your chance.  Interested parties may pick up and return the applications at Morgan County REA headquarters, or call Member Services at (970) 867-5688 for more information.
