Colorado State Capitol Building The following are some links to the latest information on Legislative News:
Recently, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission opened a docket to consider further regulating the resource planning of Tri-State G&T (Morgan County REA’s wholesale power supplier). Increased PUC regulation could impact your cost for electricity and diminish local control of your electric cooperative. The PUC has asked for public comment about whether it should dramatically expand regulation over Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, the not-for-profit, member-owned utility that provides electricity to 44 electric cooperatives in Colorado and surrounding states, including Morgan County REA. Because Tri-State is controlled by its member electric cooperatives and their consumers, there is no need for this extra regulation. If you think it's important that your electric cooperative continue to be directed by rural Coloradans, please voice your support using an easy online service provided by Tri-State. It can be accessed from Tri-State’s homepage at www.tristate.coop and click on the “Take Action” button. It’s very easy to do and only takes a few minutes. If you would like to mail a letter to your Colorado Legislators voicing your opinions, we have provided these six sample letters for you.
