MCREA & CoBank Sponsor “No Barriers” Program for Rural Veterans With Disabilities

Morgan County Rural Electric Association and CoBank, a cooperative bank serving agribusinesses, rural infrastructure providers and Farm Credit associations throughout the United States, are proud to sponsor the "No Barriers" program to rural veterans with disabilities. The two cooperatives are inviting disabled veterans from MCREA's service territory to take part in the program, which is offered through a partnership with the nonprofit organization No Barriers USA.

MCREA Conducting Pole Inspections December-March

Beginning on December 4, 2017, Morgan County REA will have outside contractors conducting pole inspections in our service territory. The independent contractors will be running their inspections through March 2018. These crews will be seen on four-wheelers around MCREA poles and infrastructure and are authorized by MCREA to conduct their inspections.

MCREA to Hold Christmas Lights and Decoration Contest

To celebrate the holiday season, Morgan County REA will once again be holding a Christmas lights and decoration contest.

No Rate Increase for 2018

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, electricity continues to be a good value. On average, the cost of electricity rises at a slower pace than many other necessary household expenses. For example, from 2011-2016, the average annual price increase of education was 3.4%; rent saw a 3.3% increase; and medical expenses came in at a 3% hike nationwide. However, electricity only experienced a 1% annual average increase over the same period.

MCREA Celebrates National Cooperative Month

    October is National Cooperative Month, and Morgan County REA will be celebrating by giving our members the opportunity to win $25 off their regular electric bill!

     

Morgan County REA Awards 2017 Scholarships

Morgan County Rural Electric Association is pleased to announce that twelve recipients have been selected for post-secondary college or vocational scholarships for 2017. This year Morgan County REA awarded five $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors and one $1,000 scholarship to a current post-secondary student that will be returning to college or trade school, with Tri-State Generation and Transmission offering two $500 scholarships and Basin Electric Power Cooperative sponsoring two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors.

MCREA Warns Members About Scam Phone Calls

Morgan County REA members - we are getting more reports of scammers calling our members (including local businesses) claiming to be us and demanding payment immediately or they will disconnect your electric service. These scam callers are very bold and forceful in their approach. The calls are also happening at night and on weekends. Morgan County REA will NOT contact our members other than Monday through Friday during business hours about payments. If you receive a call like this during business hours, DO NOT give any personal information. Hang up immediately and call MCREA at 970-867-5688.

Pole Inspections

MCREA Holding Christmas Lights and Decoration Contest

To celebrate the holiday season, Morgan County REA is once again be holding a Christmas lights and decoration contest!

How does it work?  Simply let us know that you’d like to participate by giving us your name and address, then decorate the outside of your home and/or business - the more creative the better!

Who’s eligible?  Homes and businesses that are members of (receive electric service from) Morgan County REA are welcome and encouraged to enter.
