Budget billing is a new way to pay for your bills, offering consistent, predictable payments. Instead of having a fluctuating bill month-to-month, budget billing takes your previous year's energy consumption, averages it over 12 months, giving you a new, flat monthly rate.

Budget Billing FAQ
Through budget billing, your bill is determined by taking your past year’s total billing averaged out over 12 months.
You’ll pay 11 equal monthly payments and settle up on your August bill. If you paid for more energy than you used, we’ll credit your account with the difference. If you used more energy than you paid for, we’ll bill you for the difference. The monthly billing average is then recalculated in September. Your budget plan balance will be shown on your bill each month.

If you use less power than the previous year, we’ll credit that to your next year, bringing down payments.
If you have higher energy consumption than the previous year, you will be billed the difference at the end of the billing cycle (July).
No, with our budget billing system, once you enroll, you will stay in the program unless you decide to revert to our default billing system.
MCREA's budget billing is entirely free to switch to.
If you move or cancel budget billing, we will reconcile your account by comparing total payments made against actual energy usage. If you owe a balance, it will be added to your final bill; if you overpaid, the credit will be applied to your final bill or refunded.
